Xotic BB Preamp
Xotic BB Preamp

Great dynamic distorted tones and a versatile EQ have made the BB an extremely popular pedal. The distortion is smooth and warm with sufficient clarity for each string to sound clearly . As with the RC and AC the pedal offers plenty of clean boost (30dB) from the volume control but significantly greater gain - still not metal but plenty of smooth sustain. Classic rock tones are easy to find and easy to control from your guitars volume control. Once you have used one you will wonder how you did without it just like Scott Henderson, Lee Ritenour, Steve Lukather, Greg Howe etc.

Solid metal casing and true bypass switching naturally and takes 9V battery or 9V Dc in.

Xotic RC Booster
Xotic RC Booster

The RC booster isn't intended to give a lot of distortion (Really Clean) but simply give your guitar that extra lift that fattens up the sound and can take it to the edge of break up if you want. The tone controls work nicely giving a musical range of offerings without muddying the sound. This pedal simply gives you more of your guitar tone and nothing else, even with the extra bit of gain it can offer it doesn't seem to affect the basic tone of guitar and amp. If you need a transparent clean boost with the added benefit of the tone controls then you really shouldn't look elsewhere. Definitely worth considering if you are running long cables or through a lot of effects boxes. Once you have plugged it in it is quite hard to play without it!

20dB of clean boost with ±15dB of active EQ, true bypass switching. 9V battery or 9VDC in.

Xotic AC Booster
Xotic AC Booster

The AC (Almost Clean) takes up where the RC leaves off giving the option of smooth transparent overdrive in addition to the clean boost and EQ. The overdrive you can get here has no hint of 'muddyness' just great clarity and warmth. As with the RC the only way to describe what it does, is that it enhances your sound making it seem bigger. The gain has sufficient range to give quite heavy overdrive but without taking away from your guitar's tone - this is easily controllable from the guitar's volume control. This is the kind of pedal you wont want to live without once you have tried it.

True bypass switching. 9V battery or 9VDC in.

Xotic AC Plus
Xotic AC Plus

Much more than two AC boosters in one box - a great way to get two different levels of drive and volume from your existing amp and preserve your tone. Two channels - A with volume gain and a single tone control - pretty much a standard AC booster with the addition of a volume/mid boost button adding to the versatility. Channel B has volume gain and a three band EQ along with a compression (hard or soft) switch. This is lower gain that Ch A and more like an RC booster - the compression type affects how the gain works - hard tends to give less gain than the soft but with a more compressed sound. Then of course you can combine both pedals together in either order - this is a pretty big sound with plenty of smooth sustain - more gain driving A with channel B with a slightly clearer big sound from driving B from channel A.

This pedal can be used very effectively to balance drive levels between single coil and humbucker guitars - maybe humbucker on channel A and then both for a single coil guitar.

Xotic BB Plus
Xotic BB Plus

Essentially the same principal as the AC plus (see above) with two channels one with less gain than the other. Channel A and B this time have a compression type switch (hard/soft). Channel B has more drive than channel A but both offer a good level for rock sounds - put both on together and you have a seriously big sound with loads of smooth sustain. The hard compression gives you more sustain with less attack whereas the soft is less compressed with a bit more attack. This is a great pedal for those that play legato styles but using the two channels carefully you can also get good crunchy rhythm tones. Well worth checking out - a huge amount of extra versatility from your existing amp.
