Phil
Jones brings over 40 years of experience playing bass and designing
speakers to bear in the
design of these amps and has produced some outstanding amps utilising
modern technology. Phil Jones has a background in the design of studio
monitors and hi fi speakers and this has been brought to bear in the
clean hi fi like tones of the Phil Jones bass range. With players like Pino Palladino and Nathan East
using these amps you know they must have something going for them. The
amps all feature 5" drivers which on the face of it doesn't seem right
for bass but the fact is by using multiple drivers they can easily
compete with a larger diameter speaker. Hence all the Phil Jones units
feature multiple drivers. The smaller speakers are quicker to react
resulting in a very tight clear sound - hi-fi if you will. All of this
means that you can get huge clean bass tones from some very small combos
and cabs. Obviously if you want more power there are some seriously big
cabs available and these offer outstanding frequency response. These amps definitely need to be judged by your ears and
not your preconceptions.

A gig worthy 150W RMS through 4 NEO-POWER lightweight neodymium speakers, two front and two top mounted. The sound is crystal clear with bass aplenty from the tuned cab and all the harmonics from your instrument reproduced perfectly. The top mounted speakers give you plenty of feedback as to how you sound out front. Again we have to emphasis just how portable this is and how much sound it offers for its size.
The amp has extra versatility from its switched mode power supply enabling it to be used worldwide.
