Maxon have been making pedals since the mid 60's but really came to prominence with the pedals they made for Ibanez in the early 70's including the TS808 and the TS-9 which have now rightly become classics. Maxon now dont make pedals for anyone else and market their pedals proudly under their own name. The range includes a number of analog delay based pedals built using classic bucket brigade technology - one of the few manufacturers still to do so.

450ms of bucket brigade delay but without the noise that you might remember. The companding noise reduction system really works here, removing the aliasing and clock noise and leaving the signal clear and transparent but with all the warmth we expect of an analog delay.  For added versatility there is a dual head switch which takes a tap from the middle 'bucket' to create the classic tape echo multihead sound. To bring things right up to date this pedal features true mechanical bypass switching. There are both wet and dry outputs for stereo effects and the input has a wide dynamic range so the pedal can function with virtually any input signal. If it must be analog then look no further, this pedal delivers the sound without compromise.

Look ever so familiar? Not a faithful Tubescreamer clone but an evolution of the design Maxon created all those years ago. The distorting diode in this pedal is now in the negative feedback loop of the amplifier circuitry which gives a smoother, more natural sounding distortion - less harsh. The OD-9 has uprated resistors to improve the noise floor and the pedal naturally features true bypass switching now.  The pedal may have evolved but the classic sound is still there and as responsive as ever.
